The Madras high court on 18th April 2011, had ordered a stay on the popular soap firm “Power Soap”, for using actress Tamanna’s picture for their products. This order has been issued after the actress filed a complaint in that firm regarding expiry of the contract.

The well known actress Tamanna, who is now busy in her schedule with both the Kollywood and Tollywood, entered into the modeling industry before giving an entry to the film industry. During those periods she had done modeling for many firms. After getting famous in film industry also she had done modeling for many firms. Jeyachandran Textiles, Power Soap, one famous pickle firm etc., are included in those firms. As she is busy nowadays with her job in film industry, she has least bother about acting in the advertisements.
As the days goes on, suddenly one day she filed a lawsuit against the “Power Soap” firm, that after the expiry of her contract with that firm, still the soap company is using her picture for their products. According to the report, her petition says that she signed a contract with Power soap firm on October 7, 2008 that they can use her name and picture for supporting their products till October 6, 2009. While she was discussing with the other firm during the first quarter of the year 2010 for endorsing their product, she had been noticed that the Power Soap firm was still using her images for their products. In exact for the wrappers for their products produced on November 2010 and February 2011.

In according to this issue a notice has been issued to the company and J&D Communication Private Limited on January 18, 2011 and February 1, 2011. However the reply for the notice was to direct towards avoidance, she filed a lawsuit against that firm. In that legal suit she was asking for the compensation on Rupees one crore for the violation.
Hearing to the case, Justice V Ramasubramanian, ordered a stay for the firm in using the actress pictures or name in any of their products till June 8, 2011. This stay is for complete usage of her image for their products; that means not even in website or in public materials.
